3’s A CHARM | SOLO EXHIBIT BY RYAN CRONIN

Shown: “Taste of Sweet revenge, Candy”, “It Starts As A Fracture and Ends As An Explosion”, “The Day the Fair Came to Town”

4’ x 4’

Rust-Oleum on Panel

New work from this year’s exhibition “3’s A Charm” at SCOOP studios includes Cronin’s reaction to a serious life changing event and his ability to express himself with jocularity. He continues to create visually stimulating works of art with Rust Oleum paint capturing iconic images with vibrant colors using broad brushstrokes on handcrafted 4’x4’ panels.

The foundation for Cronin’s artistic endeavors began at the School of Visual Arts, and culminated at The State University of New York at New Paltz where he earned his Bachelors in Fine Art. Although he has had traditional training, the pop culture, punk rock and graffiti of the 1980’s have molded his style which breaks the specific rule of genre. An example of new work includes the playful painting, “The Day the Fair Came to Town”, with a mischievous smile that alludes to the circus way of life. In the emotionally charged, “It Starts As A Fracture, Becomes An Explosion”, Cronin conveys how the power of stress can build up over time. The sharp lines create drastic peaks and valleys that suggest sudden outbursts of energy.

This exhibit is on display through Friday, September 30 during normal business hours, Tuesday - Saturday, 11 am - 5 pm and by appointment on Sunday and Monday. SCOOP studios is located at 57 1/2 Broad St., Charleston, SC
